Many objects in our everyday lives are influenced by ancient Grecian vessels but it is in my opinion that this fact remains unnoticed by most people. To address this I build large Grecian vessels that are then carved away leaving only the skeleton of the structure to represent this disappearing history. While these objects are remembered by historians, I feel it is important for everyone to see these connections. This is my way of trying to reconnect modern day society with ancient history. I am personally able to connect to ancient Grecian history by the process in which I make these carved vessels. By using red clay and creating very specific Grecian vessel forms, I am able to immerse myself in these ancient traditions and remember where these objects came from.
